Aw, crap. "Hero With a Thousand Feathers" has Agrabah on the ocean, with a river. I was able to rationalize this kind of thing in "Some Enchanted Genie" and "The Citadel", but this one's got me stumped. |

Well, the Nile's like that. And Agrabah must get some rain, otherwise how could they have droughts ("Fowl Weather" & "Poor Iago)? I suppose it could be a wadi, a river that dries up for part of the year... _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |

Random though:
I randomly spend hours on wikipedia and youtube, and I came across a lil point that I never realized before... Genie never talks directly to Jasmine at all in the entire first movie. _________________

I don't think he spoke to her in the original either probably because that would have given away some stuff too early if he wasn't in disguise |

For years I wondered if only the master of the lamp could see Genie. In other cartoons based on the tale of Aladdin it's often the case, I recall. In the first movie he communicates only directly with his masters, Aladdin and Jafar with the exception of Carpet but he's magical too so that might explain it. _________________

He communicates with all of the lead roles except for Jasmine
... Think about "Prince Ali." He communicates with the Sultan, the guards, Abu, and strangers in Agrabah. _________________

I don't think only the master of the lamp is supposed to see Genie (and if that was ever said, it'd be easily explained that Jafar WANTED everyone else to see Genie too; this is Jafar, the master of showing off how powerful he is). Genie doesn't talk to everyone, but that doesn't mean people don't see him.
I think Genie just didn't have any reason to talk to Princess Jasmine. Sort of an Aladdin-needs-to-do-this-himself sort of thing. Not to mention he was disguised as an ordinary human guy during Prince Ali so he probably didn't want her to think he was another suitor or have anyone question him about talking to the princess. |

I could have sworn we had an Aladdin references thread somewhere, but I can't find it.
Anyways, they make a reference to Jasmine in Night at the Museum 2. Ben Stiller's character gets into a verbal argument with a security guard over touching a tablet. The guard gets defensive over him touching it and possibly stealing it, and threatens him not to do it again or else.
"Are you theatening me, Bruhn-den (Because it looks like 'Brandon' on his name tag, but apparently it's not pronounced that way )?"
"I don't know, Princess Jasmine, am I?" |

I didn't feel like making a new topic for this because I know it's SOMEWHERE...
What are the names of the other guards? I'm doing the "Destiny on Fire" transcript, and there's a brief scene about 2 minutes in with Rasoul and the other guards. One of them's Hakim and one's Fasal I think?

I can't see the video (stupid work!), but I'm 99% sure I know what scene you're talking about.
I'm pretty sure Hakim has a line in there (he's the skinny, deadpan guard)
Fazal is the heavy set, black guard.
Nahbi is the guard with the awesome "It's condensed water vapor, sir... it's called fog." line. _________________

Actually, in the original version of Aladdin (or at least an old retelling), Aladdin falls in love/lust at first sight when he sees the princess bathing/on her way to bathe in the river. _________________
