Aladdin: The palace looks pretty amazing, huh?
Jasmine: Oh, it's wonderful.
Aladdin:
I wonder what it'd be like to live in there
To have servants and valets
Jasmine:
People telling you where to go and what to do
Spending all your days...
Just trapped
Aladdin:
Hey, it's better than here...
Dodging the guards,
Scraping for food
Stealing to live,
Being pursued...
Sometimes I feel... so trapped
Jasmine:
They look at me,
And all they see,
Is someone who I'm not
Jasmine:
I look in the mirror
And see something more
I look at the birds
And wish I could soar
Instead of being trapped
Aladdin:
All they ever see
Is a poor street rat
Have they ever thought,
I could be more than that?
No... I'm still trapped
Jasmine:
I look in the mirror and see
My reflection staring back at me
But that reflection is someone I don't know...
Even my own reflection is trapped...
Aladdin:
I dream each night
To be a prince
To have a better life...
But it can't happen since
I know I'll always be trapped
Both:
Sometimes I feel so trapped inside
Aladdin:
Forced to be a common thief...
Jasmine:
Forced to be a perfect bride...
Both:
Why must I feel so trapped?
Aladdin: Jasmine:
And to this day And to this day
I know it's true I'm still not free
I'll always be trapped I'll never be myself...
No matter what I do I'll never be me
