Inside

Inside.
Nothing happens inside.
Just sit and watch
The birds fly.

The birds that tease,
That taunt my frowns.
They fly with ease,
Over me on the ground.

Outside.
What happens outside?
Between me and the wall
Where two worlds collide.

And what is the wrong,
In being able to cheer,
On the unheard song,
That is forbidden here?

Inside.
Nothing happens inside.
Just sit and stare.
At that wall in the sky,

It keeps me in there,
The wall between me,
And the unbreathed air
And what I can’t see.

Outside.
What happens outside?
Where I’ve never peeked,
Or so much as eyed.

For all I know there are creatures,
Wandering like mad,
With their jovial features,
Blending with the sand.

Inside.
I am still inside,
Where fingering at fish,
Is what keeps me occupied.

That wall looms over,
Like an overbearing father.
Like mine that hovers,
And bothers and bothers!

Outside.
Someday I’ll be outside,
I’ll roam those streets,
‘Till my heart’s satisfied.

But until then,
You can find me,
Inside.
