Danielle and Jasmine were talking to pass the hours away. Aladdin, on
the other hand, was doing juggling tricks to gain the attention of his beloved.
At one point in time he lost his balance. Jasmine giggled at the sight,
until she realized what had caused him to do this. Aladdin gasped. There in
front of them was a white wolf with blue eyes. Danielle, recognizing the
creature, got up to greet it.

"SNOW!" she exclaimed. Danielle bent down and hugged the wolf
lovingly. It in turn nuzzled up to its mistress.

"That's your pet?" asked Jasmine.

"Yes, he's mine, as well as my guardian," answered the red-haired
woman.

Al looked at the pet warily, kind of frightened of the wolf. Jasmine
came over to the Magician and her furry friend.

"Can I pet him?" asked Jasmine.

"Sure, he's quite friendly," Danielle told her.

The Princess played with the wolf, and rubbed its belly. The creature
was like a huge dog.

"Aladdin, come say hi!" said his girlfriend.

"Huh, Jasmine. I don't think....." he started to say. Danielle spoke
before Aladdin could finish speaking.

"Oh, come on Aladdin. He's quite tame. Snow won't bite," said
Danielle.

"That's what I'm afraid of," Aladdin told her.

"Don't worry about my Sweetie. He was scared of Rajah at first too,
but got over it," said Jasmine.

Danielle smiled and was reading a note that had come from her mother.
The message basically wishing the daughter well, where ever she was. The
magical wolf had hypnotic eyes, that soon made Aladdin forget his fears. In
other words, to come pet him. The Princess wondered why her love, wasn't
fearful anymore.

"It's amazing! He's not frightened at all," said Jasmine.

"Oh, it's simple, really. Snow magically made him forget," explained
Danielle.

"WOW! That's incredible," answered the Princess.

"Yeah, it's impressive if you think about it," said the young Magician.

Her friend for the first time saw the note, she was holding.

"What's that??" she asked.

"A message from my mom," said her friend.

"I'm glad. I bet you have an interesting background." Jasmine said
dreamily.

Aladdin piped up. "Yeah, your past and how you met Mozenrath is a
mystery, too."

"Well, If you and Jasmine would like to hear my past.. I'd love to
tell it," Danielle told her new-found friends.

"Sure, why not?" said the Princess and her boyfriend at the same time.

They gathered around her, as she started to tell a tale that was years
old. The story went something like this: A time long ago, in a mystical land
named Avalon, lived a mighty magician Merlin, who was Arthur's chief Advisor.
Also, he defended the king from the evil sorceress Morgan Le Fay. King Arthur
eventually died, and the sword Excalibur was thrown back into the lake and is
in the safekeeping of the lady of the lake, until the day the next chosen would
come to wield that precious sword.

Merlin married a beautiful young woman named Nimue`, who was a former
pupil of his. A lovely, red-haired, spirited child was born to them. The
parents called her Danielle. The child grew up into a beautiful lady, who saw
magic in everything around her. Right now, she intently watched a pair of
Unicorns that simply gazed at her with soft, wondering eyes. A voice calling
her name, broke the silence, making the two gentle creatures to become
surprised. Then they ran away and disappeared from her sight.

"Danielle! Danielle!"

It was an old man's voice, high, and rather concerned.

"Coming, Father." Danielle got up from where she was sitting, shaking
grass out of the long-flowing gown. Next, she fixed the long shimmering red-
gold hair, atop it sat an crown suited for a Princess. Then Danielle quickly
went to greet her father, Merlin (The Wizard.), and her mother, Nimue`. Merlin,
a magical person, was worried about his daughter. Like all people who knew the
art of magic, he could see far into the future. From the brief images, the
Wizard saw for a fact that Danielle was destined to be a great Magician,
warrior, and the next chosen one to use the famous Excalibur.

The only thing was along with the good, there was terrible bad and how
her father wanted to spare Danielle that pain, for he knew all too well what
tragedy was involved with magic. Over the years, Merlin and Nimue` had seen
this. So, like all good parents, they tried to do the best for their child.
Because of these reasons, they outlawed anyone to practice magic around
Danielle, hoping it would solve the problem.

"You called me, Father?" asked the young lady. Near the elderly, yet
stately man stood her mother, Nimue`, a woman with long, fair white hair, that
at one time must have been the same shade of color as her daughter's. Both of
them were smiling with love at Danielle.

"Why yes, I did child," answered Merlin. Danielle looked at him
questioningly with wonderment at what he could have been calling her for. At
last Merlin (King of Wizards, and of Avalon) spoke.

"I have a gift for you," and handed her something bungled up in a
cloth. It was a soft, fuzzy, blue-eyed creature. A baby wolf cub.

"Oh, it's so sweet! Where did it come from?" She asked.

"The poor creature has no mother, and I thought it would be a great
company to you," he said.

"Indeed. The baby wolf will be." She looked into her father's eyes, and
smiled brilliantly.

Merlin laughed, kissed his daughter on her forehead, and went into the
house. The wolf was that and more to the young girl. The creature loved its
master fiercely, and would do anything for its mistress. Danielle named her
pet wolf "SNOW" because his fur reminded her of the white stuff. One day Snow
stared at a certain space of the sky, just above the clouds. Danielle focused
on that spot, but only saw brief images of what might be there.

Out of nowhere came a white horse with a golden mane and tail. It also
had wings. The creature beckoned her to climb on its back. Before she knew
it, without a second thought sat on its back, flying to meet that mysterious
space above the clouds. When they came near enough, she saw a floating castle
(Castle Laurel). Danielle dismounted and went inside. The castle was huge and
spacious. She wandered around, until Danielle came to a chamber that seemed
quite old.

Danielle pushed the door open. It was the largest library, she had
ever seen. The room was filled with priceless amounts of books, most of them
spells of white magic. Danielle picked up one of them, flipped through it,
realizing that it contained information on how to cast spells by chanting, hand
gestures, and in some cases just by pure thought.

"But how can this be?" she asked out loud.

Her answer came to her in the form of a book that sat on a stand. The
title in bold letters on the cover said: THE LEGEND OF MERLIN. Danielle read
that book, and soon understood why her father (Merlin) had not told his
daughter that she was the next to perform magic, because of the tragedy it had
caused in the past centuries. The daughter stood there in shock for a moment.
She almost couldn't believe it. Merlin (The most famous wizard in history) was
her father.

Danielle replaced the book, where it belonged. Like Merlin, she
believed magic could be used for good. So, driven by her love of the art and
the belief of it all, the wizard's daughter decided to study magic unknown to
her parents. Hours in the day passed quickly. Danielle soon noticed that she
must return home, before they suspected what might be going on. The young
woman returned outside. There the winged-horse waited for her. She climbed on
its back. It soared through the clouds, and brought her back down to the ground.

"Thank-you!" said Danielle to the gentle creature. It then flew away.
Snow, her faithful pet, greeted Danielle by licking the magician's face.

"I'm glad to see you too." She laughed happily, and continued to
talk. "I saw the most wonderful things: A floating castle, and tons of spell
books." She paused for a while, deep in thought. "I wonder....It says that
all magical beings have a mystical guardian (a pet so to speak). Danielle
looked at her wolf. "Then that means: Are you magical too, Snow?" she asked,
staring intently at the creature. The wolf responded by its eyes glowing
brightly, and winked one eye with a knowing look.

"Why yes, you are! I knew it was so," said Danielle, who was overjoyed
by the surprise. Merlin and Nimue's daughter arrived in time for dinner. They
asked her how she had spent her day.

"Oh, I had a wonderful time as usual, exploring the beauties of the
land," answered Danielle.

They nodded pleased by her simple answer, the two not for an instant
suspecting their daughter had found the floating Castle. So, in private,
Danielle practiced to gain the skills to be a great magician without her
parents' permission. Now, some days went by. A strange man named Destane with
his adopted son called Mozenrath asked her parents for shelter while staying in Avalon.

Destane was really a powerful sorcerer, who practiced Dark magic.
Mozenrath, he hoped would be his successor, and the future Lord Of The Black
Sands. Merlin had no knowledge of this because Destane masked his true
intentions with his magic, which would be revealed in time. Danielle and the
young man (Mozenrath) became very close friends (in fact lovers actually). The
woman taught him beauty, love, and even how to dance.

"Do you know how to dance the Waltz?" she asked him one day.

"I don't know how to dance," he said embarrassed by this fact.

"Oh, it's simple really," she said.

Danielle put his hand on her waist, the other holding the woman's hand,
and in no time, with music playing in the background, they were dancing
gracefully. The two young people looked in each other's eyes. Mozenrath then
kissed Danielle passionately, expressing his feelings for her. After the
dancing, Danielle and Mozenrath sat on the grass, enjoying the company of one another.

"The day is so lovely!" sighed Danielle.

"Yes, but not as lovely as you," answered Mozenrath.

She blushed, and then said the following words: "I always wanted to
know, what brings you here, Prince Mozenrath?" she asked.

"I think that I came here to meet you. And I love you!" Mozenrath said.

Silence followed. They embraced. He pulled her close, and kissed his
only love. The young woman was curious and came across some books Mozenrath
was studying from. She gasped. They contained dark, evil spells. Danielle
knew this for a fact, since she had been studying white magic on her own. She
consulted the young man.

"Do you know these spells are evil?" Danielle said.

"What do you mean?" he said.

"I mean, look at it closely," said the woman. She pointed out how it
was so.

"No! Destane raised me every since I could remember. He would do no
such thing," said Mozenrath.

"But, it is true. Destane is evil," insisted Danielle.

"No! You are wrong," answered Mozenrath. The young man walked away
from her.

Later that day Mozenrath overheard his adopted father planning to
conquer Avalon. Moze was confused and felt betrayed. In his confusion,
Mozenrath fell asleep and had a strange dream. A beauty of a lady with black
hair called Dark fate (Jesuwa) appeared and told Mozenrath to search for the
gauntlet (a magic glove) that would defeat Destane. Many perils he would have
to face, but in the end Mozenrath would win. He awoke to tell Danielle the
news. She listened, and voiced her thoughts.

"The glove is dangerous. It is said that the Gauntlet can turn the
most pure men evil," said Danielle.

"But it's the only way to save you and Avalon. I have no other
options," he said.

"Ok. Be careful my love. I will hold Destane off until you return,"
answered the magician.

"I will, my sweet, until then." And Mozenrath kissed her good-bye,
starting on his long Quest.

In reality, Dark Fate did exist. She watched him secretly in the
shadows. Residing in a Tower called The Dark Spiral, Jesuwa laughed, quite
happy with herself. The reason why Dark Fate had helped Mozenrath was because
it benefited her dark purposes. Jesuwa had created the Gauntlet. The glove
gave the wearer great power, but slowly drained the victim, in turn feeding
Dark Fate, making her more powerful. The other drawback for the user was
losing the right hand, turning it to solid bone. Unfortunately, Jesuwa didn't
make Mozenrath aware of these details. She continued to view him with
amusement, like a spider would with a fly.

Meanwhile.... Destane made chaos all over Avalon. Nimue` tried to stop
him, but he froze her to the ground, unable to move. Merlin, then cast a
spell. It was too weak, and Destane imprisoned her father in a large dark
crystal.

"NO! MOTHER!! FATHER!!" Danielle screamed.

"There's no one left to stop me," laughed Destane.

"Wait!! I have a deal for you," said the Avalon Princess.

"A deal?? and what may it be?" he said.

"Me and you battle for Avalon. If I win you leave, and if I lose you
rule Avalon," she said.

Destane rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Ah, ruler of Avalon...., I like
the sound of that! My dear, I accept your challenge."

Without warning, the wolf leaped at Destane to protect its master. Snow
was on him, and he bit Destane. The wolf drew blood from the evil man.

"Why you... little pest!" said Destane, and he put the pet in a magical
cage.

"Remember, this fight is between me and you. Not your beast," he said
smugly.

She bowed her head with regret.

"It is done," Danielle said.

"Then let the battle begin," said the dark sorcerer.

The evil man let the magician start first, "to give her a sporting
chance," he said. This is how confident Destane was that he would win.
Danielle closed her eyes to focus. She raised her hands to the heavens. A
huge fire ball hurled out of the sky and came straight for Destane. It hit the
sorcerer, and engulfed Destane in flames. The Avalon princess opened her eyes,
and gazed at the sight. For a second the red-head thought the spell had
worked. Danielle sighed in relief.

"It worked," she said. After the words had been spoken, Destane walked
out of the fire without even so much as a burn. The woman was surprised.

"But, it is not possible," Danielle said.

Destane moved towards her.

"You forget, with magic anything is possible. Now, it's my turn,"
Destane said as he waved his hand, making him and Danielle appear on a mountain.

"What are we doing here?" she asked.

"I just thought this would be the perfect place for a final battle," he
smiled wickedly.

Elsewhere........., Mozenrath was returning from his long Quest with
the gauntlet. Danielle never really knew exactly what had happened to him out
there, only that it must have been horrible. Destane threw huge magical rocks
at the magician. She managed to dodge them and blast some of the rocks.
Danielle eventually got hit from behind.

"I believe I've bested you at magic," said Destane with a smile.

"Yes, you have won," she said.

Destane laughed. It was eerie, and dark.

"Yes! I am the ruler of Avalon, but there is one last detail I must
take care of." He eyed her with a devious look.

"What do you mean?" said the girl in a frightened voice.

"Well, do you really think I'd let you live? The only reason, darling,
you didn't defeat me is because your powers aren't strong enough yet. And when
they are, I know the wizard's daughter will destroy me," Destane told her.

The evil sorcerer blasted her feet. Danielle fell backwards, clinging
on the edge of the mountain.

"I've won. Farewell, wretched girl!" said Destane.

He then zapped the mountain, rocks breaking off, the Avalon princess
frantically trying to hold on. Danielle's eyes wide with horror at her
predicament. Mozenrath came upon the scene. "DESTANE!!" he shouted angrily.
The old man turned around.

"Mozenrath, my child. You're back," said Destane.

"Don't try to change the subject. I demand you stop this right, NOW!"
ordered Mozenrath.

"Sadly, my dear, I cannot. She is our enemy. Danielle must die!!"
said the dark man.

Destane zapped the ground. It became black sand, which grabbed the
young man. Mozenrath sank deep into the sand.

"In time you will understand," he said, and continued to make
Mozenrath's girlfriend suffer.

The boy sank deeper, and deeper in the black sand. He couldn't believe
it. Destane had left him to die. Mozenrath freed the hand that wore the
glove, and zapped a tree. The plant bent enough so the young man could pull
himself out. The sorcerer's back was facing him. Mozenrath stood up. He was
furious. The boy's glove glowed and he grabbed Destane with a huge virtual
image of the gauntlet.

"What the....." said Destane.

"You betrayed me," said Mozenrath.

"Betray, is such a strong word. Put me down, and we'll rule these
people with an iron fist," reasoned the sorcerer.

"No. It is too late for that," said Mozenrath.

"What are you going to do? Kill me??" asked Destane.

"No, something much worst. I shall transform you into the most ugliest
creature.......a Mamluk," he said.

The dark magic circled around his victim, turning Destane into the
undead creature. Then, at the same instant, the magician screamed, and the
piece of rock gave way. She fell. The yells were chilling.

"MOZENRATHHHHH.........!" she shouted.

Mozenrath dropped the Mamluk, and rushed to save her. She saw an image
of something move past her faster than the speed of light. Danielle prepared
for the worst and braced herself for impact, but there was none. The boy
caught her, holding Danielle in his arms.

"How??" she asked.

"Magic, I guess," he told her.

They returned to the top of the mountain.

"Where is Destane??" said the Avalon Princess.

Mozenrath pointed to the undead Mamluk. Danielle backed up in fear.

"Oh, my Lord!" she said.

The spell on Nimue` was broken, but Merlin was still trapped in the
crystal. Danielle, and Mozenrath tried to break it. The effort proved useless.

"I promise father, one day you will be free," she said.

Even though her father could not answer her, in Danielle's mind she
knew he could hear her. Danielle's attention was turned to Mozenrath.

"What happened to you out there??" she questioned him.

Mozenrath didn't answer, and refused to look at her directly in the
eyes. She noticed the Gauntlet on his right hand.

"THE GAUNTLET!!" exclaimed Danielle.

She grabbed the glove. They struggled, and the gauntlet fell off. The
magician was shocked, his hand was bone. She dropped the glove out of disgust
and surprise. Mozenrath picked it up, and put on the gauntlet.

"I should leave," he said in a low voice.

"No! Maybe we can reverse the spell," she said.

"It's too late. I'd better go," answered Mozenrath.

He felt the dark power was already changing him, making his heart feel
strange, later in time becoming a person he himself wouldn't know.

"Where will you go??" Danielle said.

"To The Land Of The Black Sand," said Mozenrath. Danielle cried as she
watched him walk out of her life forever.

"And that brings us up to date," said Danielle, when she finished the
story.

"I'm so sorry," said Jasmine.

"It's ok. In time the pain will fade," answered Danielle.

She stared out the window, then spoke again.

"I wonder.....if he ever thinks of me," said the magician.

"Knowing Mozenrath, the only thing he thinks or cares about is power,"
said Aladdin.

"I know. I just wonder sometimes," she said. When her friends did
leave a single tear fell from her eye. In Danielle's heart, she still loved
him.

Elsewhere.........In the Citadel, Mozenrath sat on his throne, thinking
of Danielle, too.

"Why does she disturb my thoughts?" he asked.

"Perhaps, Master still care," answered the eel.

"SHUT UP, XERXES!!" yelled Mozenrath. He then hit the eel, causing him
to fly across the room.

He muttered to himself. "She will be mine again, and I will rule the
seven deserts!" vowed Mozenrath as he laughed wickedly.

THE END!
