Well, when two people love each other very much, or in Cassim's case, is really drunk....
Kidding!
If you mean the story of Aladdin, it's a tale from the book "The Arabian Nights" or "A 1001 Arabian Nights." The story itself is usually called "The wonderful lamp" or "Aladdin". It's one of the most popular stories from the book along with the legends of Sinbad the sailor and Ali Baba and the 40 thieves. Of course, Disney put their own twist on it, so the original and Disney versions are different, but alike. |

The original tale itself was actually from China, I believe. _________________ I don't need intelligent drugs, because I don't know what they are. But I will put anything into my mouth that is given to me, whether it's supposed to go there or not. Because... I'm different. |

yep! I have a movie version of Aladdin when he is in China. Horribly dubbed, and the animation is horrendous, but it's still good. Aladdin has a mother and Jafar doesn't work for the Sultan, the Sultan has another guy. There's 2 genies, one who comes from a ring, his name is Jordan and he's more like M.C. Hammer than you'll ever know. The other genie is old and comes from the lamp.
The ring is given to the Jafar character by a witch who says that Aladdin is the only one who can go into the "cave of wonders" under a tree in Aladdin's yard..... Oh, and Aladdin has a pet monkey, but his name isn't Abu.
It's hard to explain on here, but all in all, it's an alright movie. _________________ "You know what happens when my mom uses fabric softener?"

*snickers* I love it when they give Aladdin an animal cause that's so not in the original story.
I have this one cartoon version of it that's an adaptation of the original one. It's so Disney Aladdin based it's insane, lol. But it does get the basics of the original down minus the second genie, bloodshed and any mention of sex. |

I heard it was originally Chinese, although it is also one of the 1001 Arabian Nights if you've ever read any of them.
And supposedly, the Genie was more or less kind of evil. In some versions I've read, the Genie (djinn) gave no limit of three wishes. |

Disney has this odd way of taking a well-known tale and butchering it into something it totally isn't.
There is very few disney animated movies that are original... and they are far far between. |
Disney did an awesome job butchering this one! |

I'm not complaining about it, I'm just saying that it's the truth. We look at Disney for their originality, when they don't really have a original movie in their animated collection. |
Oh I knew you weren't complaining. And you're very right. They take more fairy tales and change them than they actually make their own stories.
They should make their own more often. Take the Emperor's New Groove for example. Now that was a beastly movie.
Okay, I didn't mean to stray off from the topic of Aladdin. Back to him. |

Ditto! I don't think it's a GOOD movie, but I did enjoy it - it was funny! _________________ I don't need intelligent drugs, because I don't know what they are. But I will put anything into my mouth that is given to me, whether it's supposed to go there or not. Because... I'm different. |

I can't say I'm a big fan of it, but yes, it was amusing. It's worth at least one watch, so you can enjoy the humor that is David Spade Does Disney. _________________
