| "New" cut song recordings! |
Posted by
Calluna on Tuesday, December 2, 2008
at 7:46 PM Just a reminder that the CD Howard Sings Ashman has been released; it's a two-disc set of recordings of lyricist Howard Ashman singing his own songs, including 3 written for Aladdin:
- Arabian Nights (the original lyrics)
- Babkak, Omar, Aladdin, Kassim
- Call Me a Princess
"Babkak" and "Princess" are different recordings than the ones in the box set The Music Behind the Magic. The original (much longer) version of "Arabian Nights" has never been on CD before to my knowledge; it was intentionally left off of MBtM, probably because of fear of offense (it's very tongue-in-cheek).
You can hear short audio clips from the CD here.

Aladdin production designer Hans Bacher posted in his blog today, debunking the idea that Aladdin was created in response to the first Gulf War. (They were working on it long before, and were actually worried that they'd have to stop production because of the war.) He also posted some beautiful production art; some of it you might recognize from his book Dream Worlds: Production Design for Animation, but some of it is new (well, to us ).

| Disney Prince Book To Be Released in April |

at 9:45 PM Wasn't sure where to put this but...
http://www.amazon.com/Disneys-Neglected-Prince-Knights-Loincloths/dp/1423113942/ref=pd_bbs_sr_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226036606&sr=8-6
From the Prince who is Charming, to the Prince who began as a "diamond in the rough," to the Lord of the Jungle, and to the many princes whose kiss led to a happily ever after, the Disney princes are often neglected in favor of their female counterparts.
Disney's Neglected Prince is a hard cover, museum-quality "Art of" book that focuses on the men, whether they rule from a castle, a forest, or a mountaintop, or just marry well. The roster includes royal favorites such as Princes Phillip, Eric, and the Beast; royalty from other realms including Hercules, John Smith and Li Shang; and the latest to ascend to the throne-Prince Edward from the upcoming Disney feature Enchanted and the Prince from The Princess and the Frog. Rare and rarely seen visual development art from The Walt Disney Feature Animation Studio will give Disney fans an opportunity to enjoy these hand-drawn hunks in a whole new way.
w00t, we might get some new Aladdin art
